It's probably a year or two before I'd even try a track day...but this just may have changed my mind. Watch closely at the 1:32 mark.

I just spent 35 minutes writing a diatribe on the a$$hats in that vid and got so pissed off that I deleted it...

I am a CCS Corner Captain. I have VERY strong feelings about track safety.

I hope you do go to a Track School. You will learn a lot. And it will not be like what you saw in the vid...

Now I am going to go get a paper sack and take some deep breaths...

I don't know what track this was, or what trackday provider was used, but I beleive this video is the exception and not the rule. I wouldn't dismiss going to the track altogether based on this one video (or several others I've seen). Not to say that going to the track is as safe as walking through a field of daisies... but still.

That video has f**ktard festival written all over it.

Dakar,

For those of us who have never been, what is a normal track day like?

Yep, a squidfest.
Like Dakar says, you can just start counting the bonehead moves from the very beginning of the video, most of which would be strongly discouraged at the morning riders meeting. Not to say that riding on the track isn't dangerous but this video shows a pretty extreme case. The providers that I have seen in CA usually have control riders or instructors to yank the bozos off the track before they nail anyone.

Try a novice group with one of the providers - they're usually pretty mellow.

Wow. Sorry to make y'all wanna http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r71/sherbran/Smileys%20upset%20sad%20frustrated/Smiley7.gif.

Even so, I'm glad to see everyone's replies, 'cause frankly I was really beginning to wonder. I figured this wasn't the usual, but not as messed up as y'all said.

I know I've chosen a sportbike for my trusty steed even though this type of bike seems to attract a large number of testosterone pumped, dumba$$, 'Y' chromosome carrying idiots (sorry TWF men, I don't include you in this group).

The last track day the local sportbike club hosted had about four riders crash. One of which crashed twice, once each day, taking other riders out with him. So I think I've resigned myself to riding with the BMW club at their track day only, since they are mostly more 'mature' and seem to have some sense. They told me I should have at least 1K miles in the saddle before trying.

I guess I'll just have to be the http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc92/cookiequilts/blksheep.gif

That's ok Unforgiven. As long as you understand that you are a testosterone pumped, dumba$$, 'Y' chromosome carrying idiot we'll love you anyway. It's the testosterone pumped, dumba$$, 'Y' chromosome carrying idiots who think they are superior that get us :mad. :lol :lol :lol

Well, isn't that what popping wheelies is all about? :)
Although the label does vary with the audience...
