My bike is teporarily out of commision while I'm waiting for a part (just a tip here: if you need a part ASAP... NEVER, and I mean N-E-V-E-R, order the part from ronayers.com:mad:), but I really wanted to go for a scheduled ride with some other women riders in my area. So what's a desperate rider without a bike to do? Borrow a bike of course! So that's just what I did. My ride for the day was my buddies 2002 Honda Shadow Spirit 1100. The largest displacement bike I've ridden to date. I was a little intimidated at first, but to be honest, this bike... even though it's nearly twice the engine size (and weight) of my FZ, felt slower to me than my 600. Anyways... here's my ride for the day:

This is what it looked like in the morning just before I left to meet up with the girls... looks like a beautiful day for riding! :ecstasy:

If you can see the ocean from my house at 8AM, you know it's going to be an outstanding day in the Bay

The ride took us to the coast so we could take full advantage of the beautiful, fog-free day. We stopped at the "Surfing Museum" to take some pics. How do you know you're in California? When there are Museums dedicated to surfing, of course! The museum was located inside this old lighthouse.

It's a popular surf spot, and the sea was littered with surfers. I thought for sure there was going to be a collision

We road along the coast most of the day and then may our way to Woodside, to the famous Alice's Restaurant... a moto-hangout. The picture didn't turn out well because of where the sun was, but bikes and sports cars come whizzing through there (mostly to show off since there's always an audience:rolleyes:) so I didn't want to try and cross the street for a better pic.

The parking lot accross the street. Just to give you an idea of how popular this place is, this was a small crowd because it was so late in the day.

No more pics after this stop... I had to ride the bike back to its rightful owner. It was very interesting to ride a cruiser again... since I hadn't been on one in years. But I had a really good time and laughed a lot... these girls are a fun bunch :yahoo

I'm jealous LD. It looks like a perfect day to ride, and what an awesome place to end up! It's been about 17 years since I was in San Francisco, thinking about that has me suddenly feeling really old.

WOW Girl looks like you all had a great time!
I missed seeing the museum. I'll have to check that out next time!
I miss the ocean soooo much. Great memories they brought back.

If you think that BMW is farkle-tastic. I would hate for you all to see my bike up close...

As to the Shadow being slower...it is. It has low end torque to pull all that weight and you have VROOM VROOM power to rocket you to next week. It is a longer wheel base so will not turn as quick and tires that are wider than yours with a different profile too. They all add up to a cruiser ride. Slow and easy compared to your VROOM VROOM...
Different strokes for different folks!

I never have stopped at Alice's as it was always so packed and I am not a see and be seen kinda rider. But it did look like a fun place to stop and see the cars and bikes. I didn't stop cause I needed to get on up the road a spell.

Great ride report!:wootrock:

Just to clarify... they said 3-5 days for delivery, but what they don't tell you is that it's 3-5 days for delivery AFTER they get the part. So I had to wait a week for them to even GET the part I ordered, and then another 3-5 days for it to get delivered to me. LAME!
