View Full Version : Noisy!

I'm sitting at work (yeah, I should be working, but I'm not!), and it is NOISY here! I work in an office, so it usually is quiet.
They're ripping out the heating and cooling systems here, so we have no airflow whatsoever. They did bring in portable air conditioner things, one of which is stationed about 10 feet from my office door. It is noisy! :mgbanghead:
When that's not running, I can hear them on the other end of the building cutting pipes out and banging on things! Hope they're done soon. I have to avoid that end of the building too- they're pulling out asbestos while they're in there. They have it all blocked off and have all the necessary equipment to keep it from getting out of where they are, but I don't want to be any closer than I have to!

:sorry:
I'll be in the same boat soon. They announced during a meeting yesterday that building management has decided to replace the cement sidewalk and front entry to the building... three days of jackhammering right outside my window.
Imagine my excitement...

It sounds like the kind of work environment guaranteed to give you a headache by the end of the day. Dr rAK prescribes a winding motorcycle ride this evening followed by a warm bath and a massage. :meditation:

Unfortunately, not for me. I have to get my little brother (he's almost 10) off to his baseball game, so I'll be sitting watching little league baseball instead! Although, if it's still light out when that's done, I think I should at least ride around the block!
And since the heating/cooling project here is supposed to take about a month, I'll have lots of other days where I CAN relax after work!

I really like little league baseball. I used to watch my nephews play all the time. That should be almost as fun as going for a ride.

I do enjoy going to my brother's games. It's much nicer now that he's a little bit older and actually pays attention to the games. I am lucky that I live close enough that I can go to every game of his if I am able.
As long as it doesn't rain, it should be a fun game. I hope I get to see my brother get a big hit- with kids pitching, they haven't been getting many hits-lots of walks. If we can get him going, my brother might just be able to hit a home run this year- he came close last year!

Good luck to him! That is such a huge moment in a young boy's life. I'll never forget the look of total happiness my oldest nephew got when he hit his first home run. I'd have given a lot to have gotten that moment on film.

I sit next to Typhoid Mary. She coughs up a lung every minute or so. :gaah:
IPod - the answer to all your problems. :D:
And when I really need to think hard, earplugs.

I do have an IPod- but I can't use it unless I'm using it with speakers. Have to be able to hear the phone ring! But I might just bring the speakers back to work- that would help at least a little!

UGH! I sit near a guy like that. Sounds like he's going to cough up a lung, and then he heads outside for a cigarette
We had to adjust all of his scheduled breaks around how long he can go between cigarettes. He gets more (but shorter) breaks than everyone else because he needs to run outside to smoke so frequently.

I have an allergy that manifests as coughing. Since I don't work in an office the only people it bothers are me and my family, but it is enough to make me crazy. It usually lasts about three or four weeks in spring and again in early winter.
