Sun shone in Reno and brought with the rays an warm glow. Lizards danced over the rocks in our back yard and though it was early, I deemed it necessary to awaken Gary and coerce him to ride with me, though he has been sick the past few days.

"i know you'll feel better after a good ride, hon", I baited obsequiously. He agreed and got ready to go. We were out the door around 9:15 with the GPS routing us over 350 miles in the foothills of Sierra, Placer, Butte and Yuba counties.

First viewpoint a burned Janesville Grade and Antelope Lake from the fires of 2007 showing signs of new life.

Gary concentrated on shooting the new growth covered in butterflies.

Running the hillside down to Genesee Valley, was brisk fun, watching out for sand and gravel slides in the roadway. There was little traffic anywhere so the road seems like our private playground.

The remainder of shots were captured by Gary, armed with his trusty camera and profound skiil for zipping to just the right place. There were times, I saw only his motorbike as I cruised by!

We stopped in Quincy at the Morning Thunder Cafe for brunch. Though the dood eye candy is plentiful, the prices have risen making it pricey. The food was still decent, but eggs, toast and biscuit is hardly worth $7.95 Just MO.

While eating breakfast, I commented to Gary that I was actually able to keep up with him today. He smiled that Cheshire grin and replied, "I am just toodlin' and seeing the sights". Silly me...like i could ever keep up

Next was Buck's Lake Rd and Oroville Quincy Hwy 162. Buck's Lake was a bit dirty and rough but Oroville Quincy blew me away. I know they made that gorgeous surface just for racing!! What a road!

We passed a sherrif at the top, who gave us the sign for slow down. We both waved to him complying with fingers crossed and thought, hmmmm he's past. :howdy: What a FUN road and now another of my new favorites!!

My impression of this road was well captured!

The remainder of our journey was over Oregon Hill Rd down to hwy 49.
Goats were lining the "pavement" of Oregon Hill. In fact I am not sure if goaty does it justice, maybe "unimproved" would be better. Either way, I felt my teeth loosen.

Hwy 49 through Downiville, over the twisties to Sierraville and then to Loyalton, Vinton, Hallelujah Junction and Reno. Great day...great ride :yahoo:
I even got to ride with my favorite riding partner.
