Ok...So I've decided to take this motorcycling thing off road. And believe me I am loving it. Even though I fall over just about everytime we try to do something even slightly challenging I still keep going back for more. The difference between falling down in the dirt and sliding across the pavement is huge....and I'll take the dirt evertime! Anyhow, seeing that I have been (shall we call it "falling over" for my sake rather than crashing) frequently, I have been hitting my shins on rocks etc. I wear riding pants and jacket with armor protection, but my shins are not getting any!

Long story I know....getting to the point now.....http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll256/MCZion/Happy/smiley_sorry.gif

Does anyone have any suggestions for what type of off road boot would be good and offer better protection for my shins? Mark has a pair for himself but they are pretty barbaric looking!!!

I use mine for gravel and light off road, but they don't have the kind of protection you would want for true off-road riding. Maybe send a PM to either Charla or Bonnie Abzug. They both ride off-road a lot.

Let us know what you find and how you like them. I need to pick up some too.

I wear full MX boots and knee guards when I ride offroad. My boots are old Alpinestars Tech 6's and I HATE the buckles on them but they've been going strong for 6 years now and I can't think of an excuse to replace them.

I do this a lot so good knee protection is essential!

I would highly recommend going to your local bike shop to try on boots. You want to make sure that you get a good fit and don't have any areas that pinch your foot or ankle. Try them on with knee guards to make sure they fit inside the top of the boot.

A comfortable boot will make a huge difference and your confidence will increase as you lose the fear of falling over because you know it's not gonna hurt. :D:

Charla, Thank you!

After this ride we did yesteray I am more convinced that I need a pair of decent off road boots. There was one girl that got hurt and burned her leg pretty bad...through her pants and boot. I couldn't imagine if she was just wearing jeans. I'll give details in my RR about the ride.

Thanks!

Get some good boots ASAP if you're riding off road. I don't even want to think about all the possible injuries that can happen if you don't wear them.

I sometimes wear my street overpants with my MX boots and they have so many holes melted in them it's not even funny. My boots have saved my bacon too many times to count! :D:
