So, who here has any piercings (other than regular ear lobe piercings), or tattoos? If you do, post some pic's!

I don't have any tattoos yet, but if I can come up with what I'd really want, I may get one.

I DO have several non earlobe piercings. Once I started going to a body piercing studio, I have learned a lot about piercings.

Most importantly, the piercing guns most places use are NOT good! They can't properly clean them, so there is a risk of contamination. Since I don't wish to become infected from someone elses blood or fluids, I will NOT go that route again.

My piercer is very clean, and uses autoclaved equipment, so there's no chance of contamination.

Here's a picture, it's an older one, but I haven't taken any recently. I will soon, and will post them up when I do, since this only shows one ear, and I have lots of other piercings.

I still want my tattoo but can't find the right artist. Inky, why in the heck do you live so far away? Just curious though, how many sessions would it take to do a detailed dragon on the back of a shoulder? I might have to take a vacation and do a cross country trip.

Funny- a dragon is what I've considered getting! If I do, it would likely be across my back from shoulder to shoulder. Time consuming and EXPENSIVE!

There's lots of places around here to get tattoos, but if I got one, I'd have to go where a friend of mine got his done. He has one of his dogs on his shoulder. Looks just like a picture! Unfortunately for me, the guy who did it has so many appointments booked right now that he isn't taking anymore. Of course, since my friend is a friend of his, he might squeeze me in!

Damn Inky! I'm really thinking about coming out sometime. Here are the pictures I sent you before for everyone to see. This is the level of detail and style of dragon I would like but something totally custom that would cover the majority of my right shoulder blade with a lot more color.

That looks really neat- but I think it would look better in color! I just think most tattoos should be in color. Not much of a fan of black &white ones- although that's what my bf wants to get. I suppose depending on what it looks like, it might be OK!

So, for those who DO have tattoos, or for Inky, since you do them- how much do they hurt? Probably a funny question coming from someone who has several piercings, but I'm really a wimp!!

I too am a wimp...I hate needles......Inky may share the story of me almost passing out but I won't go there.

Now I want piercings but am too chicken for those.....kinda funny considering your comment.

For me there were only a few parts that really hurt but there was a bunch of general irritation. Now they are addicting....

Well, I kinda have a high pain tolerance(something about being married!). The outline is the worst for me. Once that's done, I know that the endorphines are on their way. Lot's of breathing, and knowing that this will be done soon, and that I'm allowing this to happen, really makes a difference for me. I've watched countless people over the years really try and fight me and shield themselves as much as possible with what I'm doing to them, and you can't fight it. It just hurts even more than it should. If you dive into the experience and try to enjoy it, or work with it, it most certainly takes the edge off. Normally I don't ramble on and on about much, I listen much better and ask great questions to keep my customers talking. But when I get tattooed, I start chattering like you would not believe. Really takes my mind to a different place and makes it hurt less. Don't get me wrong, it still hurts! (Nothing like birthing a child kinda hurt, but that's a different thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) But everybody is different. I've tattooed women who are 100lbs soaking wet who cried like you were chopping off their arms, and then I've tattooed the same looking woman and they were practically dozing off in the chair. Same thing with the men. Some have fallen asleep getting their back pieces done, and others were sweating bullets. I just have to make sure that they are as comfortable as I can make them, and keep telling them they are doing great. Some folks get line by line updates to help them thru. It's all what they need.

http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb102/tangman99/tattoo/dragon4.jpg How much more detail would you like? Seems to me like it's just about right with this dragon. If you over do the tiny stuff, it just gets blurry over time. This one is bold and is very striking immediately to the eye. There's no guessing what it is at all. I agree that a bit more color would really help to seperate the dragon from the background. But this one kicks ass! I really like it.

I meant more detail as maybe something else going on behind it. Castle, Mountain, I don't know. I agree the dragon itself has plenty of detail. The custom part comes in because this is someone elses and I wouldn't want to rip them off. I love the head and claws as is and the body is good also. I'm not too crazy about the wings. Maybe a little more added to them and open somewhat. Turn the head to face frontward maybe. Have his sitting on a mountain ledge or something. Very majestic looking with a theme in mind to add to it later with something on the left shoulder.

So, it that a couple of hours worth of work? :roflmao:

Just being curious, when you have a few minutes could you tell me how long would it take to work up an image I would like manipulating that dragon around with a background scene, how many sessions and over how many days would it take to do it and what kind of price would I be looking at? How big would it have to be to get the details to come out? Just when you have time and PM me if you like but I don't mind if you post it.

Why yes they are! All of our old sheets get used at the shop. The massage table needs a twin sheet, so my son's sheets work great! We have Batman, Spiderman, Toy Story and Pooh Bear. The Power Ranger sheets are cool too. I've had people fighting for the Spiderman sheets in the past. It makes it fun. Tattoo shops can be scary enough, so why not make it as cool as possible!

I have been tattooed 7 times with 6 visible (1 being a cover up) I have had another one designed and am just trying to find a tattooist at the moment. I was all booked in to get my Tatt done on my birthday but the tattooist rang the day before to cancel. He has since closed his shop and retired due to illness. I have spoken to 1 guy about doing it he is about 2 hours drive away.

The design depicts my heritage.

The irish flag - Maternal Grandmother
The union jack - Maternal Grandfather & Mother.
The cedar tree from the Lebanese flag - father
Southern Cross - me Australia.
The squiggly stuff at the top of the tree is my family name written in Lebanese.

There will be a border around all of the stars the same as the one at the top left.

It is going to be about 19cm x 24cm and will go on the front of my left thigh.

Ashlani that's a great tattoo!

I am thinking of getting another. No dumb boyfriend to tell me no now :) He hated the one I have, but we hadn't been together than long when I got it.

I have a red and black nautical star on my ribs. It so that I always find my way back to the things I love.

I have been wanted a new tattoo for a few years now, but not sure what to get or where. I don't want any visible tattoos, but just haven't settled on my exact idea or placement. It's definitely something to commemorate my family. I can draw, so I will probably draw my own and think about it looooooooong and hard before I decide. It IS permanent after all.

ok i'm going to post my tattoo pics here, so we aren't starting another thread. As for piercings, I have quite a few, some i cannot mention but i do plan on getting dermals below my belly on one of my tattoos. These are what I have on my sleeve as of now, more to add, and the rest are of course elsewhere

I drew my own tattoo, it took a long time to decide what I wanted because I wanted it to have meaning to my life. I plan on covering most of my back and right arm some day. But here it is so far :-)

I also have my belly button pierced and my tongue. I used to have a lip ring and I have been thinking about getting my nipples pierced but I cant decide!!

I just got home from getting my second tattoo! :D it's on my wrist and it's a butterfly with pamilya written above. Pamilya means family in my best friends language and and they are like a second family to me :): the butterfly represents the baby they lost at 15weeks after trying 3 times before with IVF...I will post a pic when I can use my computer :):

I have been wanting tattoos for a very long time. I have a tattoo that I would especialy love to get. I am a bellydancer and I have an incredible drawing of a bellydancer that I would love to put on my back just above where my skirt sits on my hips. It is grey but she is wrapped in a sheer blue veil. The tattoo artist I want to do the ink has a waiting period of 6 - 9 months to get in to see him. He is in another town, only takes appointments in person. His office is only open Tues. - Fri. And there is a $50.00 non-refundable deposit at the time you make the appointment. This guy is amazing at grey work and portraiture. I work full time and rarely get to Williams Lake during his work hours. I will get my tat one day, hopefully sooner than later. - As for piercings, I have 4 in one lobe and 3 in the other. That's it.

Waiting for the right artist is a must CR as you don't want to regret having to compromise on something as permanent as ink. You'll just have to make it work by taking a day off and having it done. Any chance of you posting up a picture of your drawing?

Hey Here is a pic of me at our Garlic festival 2010 and also the tattoo I'd love to get. It was a cold morning when this photo was taken so I had to were a tummy cover to keep warm. I think I want the tat placed a bit to the back of there my thumb is in this photo so that it is just above where my skirt sits on my hips. Also, I don't know who the artist is who drew this picture. She's beautiful!

Whoa! You guys have some beautiful ink going on here!

CaribooRyder, if you ever make it over for that bellydancer tattoo, please update it here~ she's GORGEOUS. That would be an amazing piece of art.
Ashlani, that woman rider tattoo is beautiful! Way to represent! :wootrock:

I have 3 holes in each earlobe. I want the top of my ear pierced, and I know someone who has the little flap of cartiledge in front of the ear pierced and I love that. It would hurt like hell, but only for a minute. :D: I'd have to lose a lot of weight before getting a bellybutton ring, but they're so cute! I'd also like to have a little nose stud, and maybe just one eyebrow ring...

I LOVE red roses. Very done, I know, but I've got a deep love of them and want them on me, starting with the top of my ear. I want the rose flower on my ear with the stem piercing through to the back and extending down. From that point it has changed over and over again... but I'd like to incorporate my family into it somehow. I'm thinking maybe each of the kids as a bud, with the two babies I miscarried being closed buds. That way I could still acknowledge them. I seem to be working my way backwards with it, having started at the top and working my way down! Now, if I could figure out where it's base is meant to be, I can get things started...
One reason I've not been in a huge hurry is finding an artist I trust to portray what I want in the style that suits me. Someone who is amazing at one kind of artwork isn't necessarily strong in what I want done. I need to find the artist for me, and I don't mind waiting for him/her. I'm sure, like every other part of life, when the right one comes along we'll just "click". :):

I'd also love to put a tattoo of my mothers ring on me somewhere. My kids surprised me with it for my birthday this year, and it's just beautiful. Maybe that could be hanging from the vine somewhere.... :chin:

You spend some time around swap meets and bike rally's and you will begin to see what I mean by bad ink. We had a local tat shop do up a real bummer of a job on a local gal. Very pretty young lady with a really nice tattoo idea and when he was done with her it didn't look much like the picture at all since it all bled together. He told her it would look better after the swelling went down.....:wtf: Not much she can do about it now other than laser removal. The real sad part about it was the fact that I had strongly suggested she go elsewhere but she went to him because he was only a few blocks away....... Please, if anyone here is thinking about getting ink, spend the time to check out the artist to make sure they are as good as they say they are and don't go to someone just because "they are a few blocks away".
