This is going to take some time.
My intention is to have:
#1... pictures of all the gear
#2... prices we paid
#3... Where it was purchased

So here goes
This was the first add on to my bike.
It is a model called "smoke Touring LIP by Laminarlip (http://www.laminarlip.com/)
I would NEVER ride without it now that I have one. They are bike specific My ran $92

I would need a Tank Bag I decided on a Rapid Transit (http://www.rapid-transit.com/rt/products.cfm?products_id=639) I was able to buy from a local shop for $80
http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/329744760_SyDSd-M.jpg (http://lunatique.smugmug.com/gallery/4745879_ssXVw/1/281197336_QFDZr#329744760_SyDSd-A-LB)

Saddle bags came from MotoDirect (http://www.motodirect.com/servlet/Detail?no=106)$68. The waterproof covers that came with them I will use inside instead of over the outside of the saddle bags.

http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/342648911_Qotdv-M.jpg (http://lunatique.smugmug.com/gallery/4745879_ssXVw#342648911_Qotdv-A-LB)

Pillow I have to have a pillow Picked this up at Dick's Sporting Goods for $9

Sleeping Bag (http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___40069) I decided on a rectangular Goose Down 20 degree bag $140
I move around in my sleep and this is like have a quilt my movements are not restricted so I do not wake up.
http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/342673957_3dSct-M.jpg (http://lunatique.smugmug.com/gallery/4745879_ssXVw#342673957_3dSct)

Prolit 4 Thermarest pad (http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___47737) $107

Since I knew the cot would be a problem transferring body heat I opted to add a self inflating pad mostly for warmth although it does add to the overall comfort when combined with the cot. :D:
It is very nice and at my age I need to get a good night's sleep:sleep:.

http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/342674500_hxsvC-M.jpg (http://lunatique.smugmug.com/gallery/4745879_ssXVw/3/342678360_oHcWn#342674500_hxsvC-A-LB)
Cot (http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___21237) I choose this great little cot It keeps me off the ground I have tried it out and it very comfortable and packs up small although I will sacrifice some alloted weight to bring it along at 7 lbs 8 oz $33 Again I will say at my age I need to get a good nights sleep:sleep::lol:
http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/342673955_5NRBj-M.jpg (http://lunatique.smugmug.com/gallery/4745879_ssXVw/3/342678360_oHcWn#342673955_5NRBj-A-LB)

The first time we put them together was very DIFFICULT. We left them set up for several days hoping the canvas would stretch. It did some but was still to hard for one person to stretch the cover so JT cut some off of the poles and that was all it needed.

Eureka Tatragon 8 Tent (http://www.cspoutdoors.com/eute8.html) $85 free shipping

http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/342678360_oHcWn-M.jpg (http://lunatique.smugmug.com/gallery/4745879_ssXVw#342678360_oHcWn-A-LB)

Camp Chair (http://www.rei.com/product/765269) Bought them in a close out at REI . The chair looks very much like this only it packs a little smaller and a little shorter and we paid only $23 for each of them
http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/342683931_SHN8E-M.jpg (http://lunatique.smugmug.com/gallery/4745879_ssXVw#342683931_SHN8E-A-LB)

Total for this section is $397 plus the bike luggage section of $608
Total of $1,005. so far

Have you tried out the tent? I've been looking at that one.
Yes I have
Quick to set up
I can set my chair inside it and not be hitting my head.
Plenty of room for all my gear.
No leaks even after days of rain
Seems to have good air flow ( It wasn't really stagnant hot when I tried it out)

I did swap the tent stakes they came with a pin style. I had some problems with the vestibule pulling the stakes of the ground (in high winds )so I swapped them for ones I had here ( image below)
and best of all it packs small (5" X 29" )
I felt the poles put to much pressure on the sides of my Motofizz bag (the MotoFizz is 29" also) so I just attach them to my Tail rack (no need for them to take up valuable space in a waterproof bag ):D:

You girls are silly.

Thanks for putting this together LT, I did a camping trip a few weeks ago and discovered a few things. My REI yardsale tent needs the floor patched and all the seams sealed, I need a cot as the sleeping pad was not enough (I was ready to buy the same as yours but have been lazy), and my MSR Reactor ROCKS!

Oh and cover the chair when it rains... :slaphead:

Oh oh, and the seams on my seat need to be waterproofed as well. Think I can use the tent stuff for that? :chin:

Although, if you think about it, most all of what's listed is a one time purchase. So the first time you go it'll cost quite a bit, but after that, it shouldn't!

That's how we are looking at it $388 is a great investment.even when you add in the cost of a campsite each night. if you compare it to staying in a B & B or Motel for weeks.

Let's see :chin:Oh yes am not done with the campsite
We purchased a 3 pack of these little crank lanterns from Sportsman's Guide (http://shop.sportsmansguide.com/) Clearance ( no longer available)
I ordered them because the ran on either AA batteries (which most of our stuff uses) or by a hand crank located on the bottom.

http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/343554270_fsW4c-M.jpg (http://lunatique.smugmug.com/gallery/4745879_ssXVw#343554270_fsW4c-A-LB)

It measures 8" long by 2 1/2" at the base. I will pack it with my sleeping bag to protect the plastic lens from getting scratched. It will be used in the tent at night $4 per

The Petzel Tactikka Plus 4 - LED headlamp with a promo we found through Amazon.com $30
http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/343558189_G45Dt-M.jpg (http://lunatique.smugmug.com/gallery/4745879_ssXVw#343558189_G45Dt-A-LB)

I have a small LED flashlight attached to my gloves for all other night light needs

We splurged and bought a Jet boil We looked around and found it for a great price at C & C Outdoors (http://www.ccoutdoorstore.com/jetboil-group-cooking-system.html)$99

http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/343556846_v9N6c-M.jpg (http://lunatique.smugmug.com/gallery/4745879_ssXVw#343556846_v9N6c-A-LB)

At our local EMS (http://www.ems.com/index.jsp?emssrcid=adwords_eastern+mountain) I was able to get the gas canisters for the Jet boil at $4 each Picked up 4 of them

http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/343559083_SdVcF-M.jpg (http://lunatique.smugmug.com/gallery/4745879_ssXVw#343559083_SdVcF-A-LB)
For Bath Towels I found these in the Auto section of Walmart I can't remember how much I paid. They were a lot less than the sporting good store. Size is 20 X 40 I also bought a package of white & blue 12 X 12 at BJ's in the car care area for cooking washing up & for personal use.

http://lunatique.smugmug.com/photos/817438891_UUiWr-O.jpg (http://lunatique.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/2008/4745879_ssXVw#817438891_UUiWr)

To dry wet towels etc. I have a mesh bag I simply clip to my motofizz and while riding everything dries.

Veda the big thing in find the right equipment depends on weight & size. All become critical when gearing up. .
Size matters The smaller and lighter the items are the more they seem to cost. The key for us is to find gear that will work on a limited budget.

I pack ultra-lite on my trips but then I find that I may need to pick up a few things on the way. Tarp, tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag and pillow is about it. Tool bag, extra oil and a few extra parts is what I take along for the bike. I have about $200.00 total in my gear but after this weekend, I my just spring for a cot. Old age and high miles catches up fast!

They are fantastic you have a choice of voice activation or push to talk ( our preferred method P 2 T ) Crystal clear no static. We separated about 1/2 mile or so making us well out of visual contact to test them out. They were still clear absolutely no noise or static in the background.

We given them a http://www.twowheelfemales.com/forum/images/smilies/TwoThumbs%20Up.gif for price and clarity. Can't find the reciept for some reason. I will look around more later
PS There's only one wire to disconnect when you get off the bike. :yahoo:

Midland Charging Kit (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16872008042&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Walky-Talky-_-MIDLAND-_-72008042) This link is not where I bought it but this pice is not too bad I paid $15.97 through Sportsman Guide in Closeout. This way we can be charging 2 batteries for our radios while we are traveling using the other 2.

http://c2.neweggimages.com/NeweggImage/productimage/72-008-042-01.jpg

We bought a Garman Street Pilot #2720. With a price of $179
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51DshEY7I1L._SS400_.jpg

Next we would need to change out JT's Midland headset & push to talk system to get the Garmin & bike to bike communications to work together, So we purchase the Motocom MXR-1 (https://www.rflimited.com/Site.asp?CID=3) Music adapter series with an in line switch $29.99
https://www.rflimited.com/images/ProductPics/MXR-1web.jpg

and MotoCom's Helmet headset (https://www.rflimited.com/Site.asp?CID=3) with P2T. $64.99

https://www.rflimited.com/images/ProductPics/MC-554b.jpg

The only wire I have to attach or disconnect.

The Radio is in the outside zip section of my tank bag leaving only my connecting wires exposed. The PTT button is on my bars at the front left of my tank bag.

Still have some bugs to work out of it Sounds like I am whispering when set to hear the Garmin at a normal level. We may need to buy another one of their helmet headset and P2T for me.Because I do not like shouting.

You've got some great gear LT. We are pretty well set up, but have a very small tent that has no extra room at all. We not only couldn't get a chair in it, but there is no way even one cot would fit. When we replace this tent we'll definitely be looking at something larger.

I think you use the left brain for processing information First at the pieces then putting them together to get the whole. Bet you didn't know that did you

Our 70% chance of rain dropped to 20% and the temps. are running about 10 degrees below normal. I think she lost her powers somewhere on the trip.

Nova Scotia was my first long bike trip back in '02, and I've been wanting to go again ever since! The Cabot Trail was incredible, the people were great, and everyone was very motorcycle friendly no matter where we went.

I hope you have a fantastic time!

I have one of those and a Therma rest pillow also. I'm a pillow person so when I camp I use the Therma rest because it's bigger. It packs pretty well, just costs more.
