I went on my group ride last weekend. It was a WONDERFUL weekend for riding. No rain, sunny, and the temperature wasn't too bad. Got a touch warm when not moving, but not too bad.
We had a total of right around 75 women on bikes, along with a couple in cars. We ended up leaving in groups of about 10.
I put myself in the slowest and last group to leave. The ride itself went very well. I did kill the bike at a stop sign- I know I had shifted into 1st, but must've hit the heel shifter and knocked it into 2nd. That was right at the beginning, and I didn't have any problems after that.
We rode on back roads/country roads the whole way. Taking the interstate, it's a 2.5 hour drive, taking our routes, including two gas/bathroom stops and a lunch stop, it took 7.5 hours!!!
The roads we took were not too difficult for me at all. We did have quite a few curves, and a lot of hills. It was gorgeous! I didn't take pictures though- not qutie ready to take pictures on the go yet!
When we got to the hotel, our bikes took up a lot of the parking lot! It was awesome to see them all lined up!
On Sunday, I decided I didn't really want to do the long scenic route home, I just wanted to go the fast route. A couple other women from my chapter of the group I was with were taking the interstate, and let me ride home with them. Because I was the newest, they kept me in between them the whole time. I think I suprised them by saying we could go the speed limit (70-75) the whole way and I'd be fine. I don't think they realized I've been on the interstate several times already!
It was a great time, and I hope to be able to join them on rides again, but probably not till next year.
At this point, I'm just hoping to have time and good enough weather to get the bike out for a decent length ride sometime before winter! Maybe in the next week or so the fall colors will peak and I'll be able to ride and see them!
