It appears my insurance company and I have come to an agreement and I'm getting my totalled 1000RR back! :yahoo: So that means Maleficent and I are going to be rebuilding it into a track bike! :ecstasy:
I have already been informed that I'm not allowed to do any work on it without her. It should be a fun project and I can't wait to get started. Hopefully I'll be going to pick it up and my new bike at the same time. Unfortunately I won't be riding for about another month so we can just stare at it in the garage until then.
So, we will be documenting the rebuild and the first photos will be it stripped down and ready to start the rebuild. So much to decide now.

The one thing I really want to learn is how to setup a suspension. I've read about a thousand times but just don't really get the concept. Once I get used to adjusting thing on a regular basis, I may put an adjustable lowering link in it and drop it down a couple of inches every now and again so Malificent can take it out on the track. Don't tell her though because I'm not sure I want to do that yet.

It is sitting in the garage waiting to be torn down. I'm planning on starting either this week or next week. First thing to figure out is why my front wheel points left when the triple tree is straight. Nothing looks bent and no fork oil anywhere so hopefully they just twisted in the tube or clamps somehow. It did slam in very hard.

Hey, I'm just looking for an excuse to drop $2700 on a set of Ohlin forks. Of course then I'd have to spend the $1300 on an Ohlin rear shock.

Mine was like that, I loosened the bolts holding the fork tubes and held the front wheel between my legs and pulled the handle bars back straight.

That's what I was thinking. I believe that is all I'm going to have to do but I won't know until I try. Wish me luck. I really don't want to have to spend all that money on a new suspension.
