After reading LT's plea for ride reports, I decided to try to help out. Austin was in the upper 70's on Saturday, so I went for a ride around town. :riding:

Which bike to take? It was a toss-up, I chose the Wee-Strom.

First stop was Mandola's to have lunch with my friend Laura.

Laura was camera shy, so you only get a pic of her lasagna:

I got a thin crust pizza with meatballs and mushrooms. It was delicious...

Yummy desserts  :

I said goodbye to Laura and headed downtown, there's a freestyle BMX park on the way. These guys get huge air :wootrock:, although I didn't get a decent pic of it:

I then rode by Wooldridge Square... What are they doing down there?

I wish I knew how to play chess, this looks like fun.

Took a couple passes by the Capitol:

I then headed over to Barton Springs Pool, the water is 68 degrees year round:

Then headed over to Walsh Boat Landing:

Next stop, Mount Bonnell, the highest point in the city limits at around 780 ft. There's a great view of Texas' own Colorado River from this spot:

The Pennybacker Bridge in the distance:

Last stop Bull Creek, just west of the city limits, two slippery water crossings to add a little more fun to the day:

Hit a few twisties along the route, but sorry no pics of those, too busy riding... About 60 miles total, never more than 15 miles from downtown, it was a nice little ride.

:yahoo: My smile meter is way up there now :D:

I am making a mental note If I ever get to Austin I want to have lunch here. If the food tastes half as good as the photos

Every time I see the Capital building in Austin I think of the musical "Best little whore House in Texas " When the govenor sings that great song about dancing around questions and never giving any answers

2 black Lab + 1 Ball mix with water = 1 very happy dog

Howdy BobCat, Yes that was I. It was the first dual sport rally I ever attended.
It was a blast! My biggest shock was dealing with the accidental trespassing we did. It is a very big deal, and left me with mixed feelings about the event.
Cheers, Patrice

Story time! :popcorn1:

Wow...Great friggin' pix. I have always wanted to wander down to your area, and this may be the year to do so. I have another Brit friend who lives in Austin, so I imagine I would find some to chum around with. I'd eventually like to wander into Louisiana. Ever done any riding there???

Thanks for the wonderful photos and for killing my diet with that gelato. I definitely wanna stop by there!!

Ok...now about that story...:popcorn1:

Come on down, you've got a place to stay here if you like.

I've not ridden in Louisiana, but have done a little exploring there on 4-wheels. It's an interesting place, quite different from anywhere else I've ever been, like a different country in some ways with the swamps and cajun culture.
