After debating the merits of a customized seat for a few months, I finally ordered a Corbin yesterday for my 2006 Ninja 250. I sent them photos of me on the bike, gave them a "wish list", emailed them for a couple weeks, and the factory called me this morning with their suggestions based on my height, inseam, weight, and ride position. I won't have the seat for a month, but that's OK. Time flies!

Bottom line: I am very impressed with their team, they offer good suggestions and don't charge for customization ("nose job" and seat scoop). They will be able to lower me enough that I can raise my suspension back to stock (although lowering 1/2" hasn't seemed to hamper my handling at all or damaged the bike -- I now touch with the balls of my feet, not bad...but...).

Yes, I know I can ride a bike with just my toes on the ground...but without height OR mass it does seem a bit more challenging to handle certain situations. Just my opinion. With my feet more firmly on the ground, I'll have more confidence in super-slow turns, off-cambered roads, weirdly-banked on-street parking. At any rate, this is my thinking :)

I'll give my review of the seat when it arrives!! People seem to either love or hate Corbin, but one thing for sure: they are responsive, have opinions and suggestions, and take time to get to know you and work with you.

That sounds great. I would recomend trying the seat before raising the bike back up, that way it isn't to much to soo.

I have had a Corbin on my last 2 bikes, so needless to say... I like their seats. I will caution you that it will feel REALLY hard when it's new. Corbin seats need to be broken in, so don't let your initial impressions of seat comfort be a disappointment... it'll become more comfortable after some riding time.

Where in CA do you live? If you're anywhere near Hollister I would suggest riding out to the Corbin factory. Not only can they design/modify your seat for you right then and there (where you can sit on the seat and make mod decisions), but it's an interesting place to visit/tour as well.

I wouldn't suggest the "Carbon Fiber - High Gloss" material... it's SUPER SLIPPERY

 It is often the small details that get you! I had the same  experience in a seat, so when I had mine recovered I found a nice very non-slip material for the seat top.

Can't wait to hear about your new Corbin evolwife.

um, yeah, tried raising the bike back up once before when i thought i was ready...and this is kinda funny (NOW, not so much then) -- I have an adjustable link and unintentionally raised it higher than stock, went around the neighborhood and you'd have thought i was on one of those crazy-high BMW's

my seat is going to be carbon fiber (not shiny) with asphalt sides. i will try to figure out how to post a pic before then...i guess i have to upload my images to picassa or something? i imagined i could just copy photos from my computer hard drive and insert them using this nifty little wysiwyg editor we have, but i haven't been successful yet. oh well, i have about a month to figure it out.

Your seat sounds as if it will be very attractive. I like the look of carbon fiber a lot.

I had ordered a Corbin seat for my previous BMW R1150R I did it to reach better the ground. The seat was lower but it was also wider than my factory on so it did not help me.
I had to return it and they where accepted it back and returned my $$.
Hope it works for you
