View Full Version : Music While Riding

What music do you all suggest for riding? Do you have playlists or favorite artists that you would recommend? I need to make a playlist for a fairly long trip I’m taking next month, but when I open up iTunes to start a playlist I keep drawing a blank.
Actually, is there any music you WOULDN’T recommend? Do you tend to get revved up and twist the throttle with fast rock music? Should I keep the playlist fairly mellow, or does music tempo not seem to affect your riding style?
Any suggestions and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.
DISCLAIMER: Please no flaming... if you don't think people should listen to music while riding, that's fine... no need to preach to me about it, we can agree to disagree. Thank you.

Sometimes I like music for long trips...
I don't really listen so much any more for hearing protection & sometimes I find it too distracting - like if I'm in heavy traffic & splitting...
Some of the tunes that tend to get me in trouble are up beat and fast - next thing I know I'm doing over 100! :lol
As for specific songs - some of the techno dance music is pretty kick ass - only a few - and you can't go wrong with the Top Gun soundtrack! :lol
Sometimes you can find the right songs that simply flow with the 'beat' of the road.... when you do - it's heaven! :)

So far, I've only listened to music as a passenger. Being new to riding (8 mo, 3,500 miles) I feel like it would be a distraction for my commute or runs through the hills. I'm planning to try some basic Top 40 for my next highway trip. I know that in my car, rapid beats increase my road rage so I'll try to avoid that.

That's a GREAT way of thinking!
Being a new rider you really don't need any additional distractions! ;)
As for the road rage- I find I have no road rage on my bike - it's so easy to split between them or pass them at will - although on occassion it can be frustrating - but it doesn't last long! :lol
Congrats on getting your first bike!!!!
