I'm attending my first motoGP this weekend in Indy. :wootrock: Anyone else going?

Suggestions/advice from anyone who's been before to make my experience more enjoyable? I possibly may be overthinking the whole thing, but in my excitement of going, I'm sure that there's something I'm forgetting or that I've not even considered thinking about. I keep hearing that parking's a b*tch, but I'm uncertain that there's really anything I can do to take care of that issue.

Cheers!

Woohoo - someone else is going!! My boyfriend and I are heading down Friday morning and leaving Monday morning - camping on site (should be interesting). This is my first GP as well - I'm SO excited. If you do nothing else, you must follow the rules of the forum (which I've learned in my short time here) - LOTS OF PICS!!

Good walking shoes. Water, water, water and good sun screen lotion.

Be prepared for any kind of weather. Last year we got hit with a hurricane. :gaah:

Are you going to be in a car or on a bike? Camping, hoteling only down for the day? :ears:

I typically don't drag cameras around w/ me because I dislike them so, but this may be something for which I'm actually willing to bring it along. Most of the people around here think I'm nuts for going, and actually excited about it, so good to know I'm not the only one! Have fun!

D'oh! I completely forgot about the sunblock already. One would think I'd remember such things after burning myself to a crisp this previous weekend.

Yeah, I heard about the hurricane last year. I had a friend who went and said he drove home during the storm because he had already checked out of his hotel.

I'll be in a car. I'm still trying to figure out my schedule for Friday, so I don't know whether I'll be there late Friday or just wait to leave early Saturday morning. This delayed my hotel reservation, and there are apparently slim pickings now. Considered camping but no gear with me anymore, so going to have to figure out the hotel between now & then.

Thanks for the reminders!! I'm sure my skin will appreciate it come this weekend.

I'm told it's LOUD and completely nuts but a lot of fun. This is hearsay, however, so don't take my word for it.

Finally figured out when I'm getting there, only to waffle on when I want to leave. I'll be camping in my car if I don't figure it out soon!

Yeah, we're in Lot 2, which was one of the two that said something about showers and stated "Not a family lot" so I figured there would be some partying going on - which is cool should be fun. Our tickets are on turn 7 I think so if some adult beverages are consumed it's close enough to stagger to and from the tent. I keep picturing just being on concrete in the middle of a parking lot - hope there is some grass!! Camping in the car is always a good time right :):?!?!?

If it means I get to take my bike and ride a lap on the track, then I'll take it! :riding:

Yes the lap voucher is to take a lap around the track. It was on monday last year. It is a very fun time or it was for me when I did it last year. The only negative is that right off the bat some were doing stunts down the straights and then everyone had to go with a pace car real slow.:grump: I just hung back and rode my ride. We went in a group of about 30 at a time. Well worth the extra day IMO. :wootrock:

It was no hurricane but there was rain on Friday afternoon as the MotoGP riders practiced at Indianapolis.

Best images of MotoGP FP1 in Indianapolis

The man setting the best lap of the opening MotoGP practice session of the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix was Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa, who went round the 4.216km track in 1’51.507s in wet conditions.
With the riders lapping more than ten seconds off the sort of pace that would be expected on a dry track, it was Pedrosa who adapted best to the conditions on his factory RC212V as he produced his best time on the sixth of just 16 laps.
Late charges from Pedrosa’s former team-mate Nicky Hayden (Ducati) and the reigning MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi (Fiat Yamaha) saw them place themselves in second and third positions on the timesheets, with times respectively 0.155s and 0.307s behind the Spaniard.
Like Hayden and Rossi, the Italian’s Yamaha colleague Jorge Lorenzo also produced his fastest pace on his final lap, putting himself fourth with a 1’51.894 time.
Satellite pair Alex de Angelis (San Carlo Honda Gresini) and James Toseland (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) were fifth and sixth, with both hoping for good results this weekend as they attempt to secure 2010 rides.
The top ten was completed by Loris Capirossi (Rizla Suzuki), home rider Colin Edwards (Monster Yamaha Tech 3), Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda) and Marco Melandri (Hayate Racing).
Aleix Espargaró got his first ever MotoGP ride in the session and did well to end up in 15th place, lapping ahead of Gabor Talmacsi and his temporary team-mate Niccolò Canepa

What an amazing weekend - sad to see it done. I wasn't sure what to be prepared for but all the classes (125, 250, etc.) took my breath away. I finally had the opportunity meet LD today - sorry no proof I was on the way back from the shower - GREAT TO MEET YOU LD hope you have safe travels the rest of your trip!! KCDakar - I thought of you when I met a couple of nice guys from Engle Motors (Mike and Chuck) while eating lunch today at the Tucker Rocky suite.

I wasn't as lucky as LD in getting a Rossi autograph but did get a few good pics in the paddock today after warmups and Tucker Rocky brought in Nicky Hayden, Collin Edwards, Alex De Angelis, and Andrea Davizioso which was pretty neat. I'm a little fried, but I'll probably post again tomorrow with my pics and stuff (my USB cable died). I had an incredible time and can't wait next year. Valuable lessons: sunscreen is good, lots of free beer and hot sun = BAD!! Camping should be pretty quiet tonight - we're staying and it looks like a lot of folks are packing up and leaving.

No, I just have to worry about my batteries dying. Speaking of which, I *do* have a "few" pics to post whenever I get the opportunity (nothing nearly as awesome as those posted thus far due to my seating preference at the time).
