So a few weekends ago I went to Kansas, it wasn't a very long trip but about 1100 mile weekend roundtrip to get BBQ. We started right after work friday 3-27-2010 to Hutchinson as most of you know Kansas winds can be brutal along with rain well and riding in the night, I felt like I was on a thrill ride at an amusement park. Since we were on a mission of getting to point B we did not take any pictures.
the first two pictures you see is a shot we were tagging for a tag picture, it is a online game you take a picture of something and someone comes along takes a pic at the same location then has to place it at a new location, the game goes on and on in each state and loads of fun because you have to beat someone to the tag, anyways you can see the burn out I did in the second photo, I thought I was going to loose it, dummy me didnt think for the fact that it had been raining all weekend that the ground would be mushy. The third photo is for the Colorado Tag. The fourth photo is a terrible shot of me on the left waiting in line for the BBQ and the fifth is a plate of BBQ.

Here are more.
The first one here is a line for BBQ.
The second is Roy's, I guess they are real popular in Kansas.
The third is some of us getting Pie in Yoder, Im on the left in the blue shirt. two thirds of the crowd that went to Roy went on home, they wanted to beat the storm for the evening.

So on the way home, we were having a nice ride, it was a great day weather was great. But one of the guys got a flat. I was riding behind him and noticed his daughter was falling a sleep on the back of the bike, she was starting to teeter to the left so I decide to pull up along side of him to let him know when all of a sudden he had the wobbles and slowed down real quick, I hit the breaks so he can get over to the side of the road, well you know what happen next....:D: his daughter woke up.
so I didnt have to tell him...lol.
We ended up having to call a tow truck, my hubby tried to repair it but he only brought four cartridges and the seal was broken.
All in all we had a lovely weekend and lots of food, great time with great folks.

Yummy lemon merengue I haven't had a great Lemon Merengue pie in 20 years. My Mom used to make an awesome one. I have her pie tin but I just don't seem to have her nack for it. Mine never comes out as good as hers always did.

There are many things that is never like moms.
Ex: I will not eat liver unless my mom makes it....I need to go visit my mom.
But anyway the lemon merengue was very good, it could have been a little tarter, I like lemon or lime pie to have a pucker effect. I want my glads to say wow.
Yoder is a four corner town and the pie place is an Amish establishment, at least that is what is represented, they even have some employees dress the part.

Wow, gnarly dude(tte) (as we say in California) - 1100 miles for BBQ! Impressive.:wootrock:
I love baking - if you come to California, I'll make you lemon meringue pie. Mmmm. Or blackberry, right from the back yard. That would be only about 1,225 miles one way...

:smiley:When is Blackberry season?
Usually in July - just when it's getting nice and HOT here. But since there's always more than we can use right away, I freeze them. That way you can have blackberry pie in winter. So, come on out anytime!
(BTW, what does RTE stand for?)

You are absolutely right. RTE is bike lingo means Ride to Eat...
Did you know there is a biker dictionary with all the abbreviations and different slang terminology.
