The lowering links did not get me down where I needed to be.

They tell me I can go lower ( up to 4 inches ) but 1 3/4" I already did was further than I really wanted to go.

So what to do:chin:.............. I really really like the Russell Day long Saddle (http://www.day-long.com/) but it is quite wide.
It splays my legs so the best I can do is brush one toe touch and since I never took ballet it immediately starts to cramp up on me. :(:

I decide to bite the bullet and buy a new seat.

I order the Corbin Duel Platform Low (http://www.corbin.com/). I was PROMISED on the outside a 4 week turn around
5 weeks later I was still waiting for a tracking number so I give them a call.

The woman I spoke with says :chin: " OH the "Asphalt" material you requested for the sides is coming from Italy via a cargo ship and there has been some serious delays. :gaah:

We have no idea when it will get here" :ohsnap:

:soapbox:Communication is the key to good business.

So to make a long (6 week )story short........................... I changed the materials and it arrived yesterday :ecstasy:

Drum roll please :D:

I inspect all the seams and stitching everything looks good.I not too sure about the front seam. A few hundred miles of sliding foprward to get my foot down will let me know if it is a problem.

Here is my current seat :cloud9: This is like a comfy pair of slippers. I hope once I get used to the bike I can go back to it

Before you can access the 2 bolts that hold the seat down. You have to remove the side covers. Wouldn't the key idea been better?

Oh well I have the tool to do the job.

Once the side covers are off
Just one more bolt on each side of the seat left to go.

And then the new seat slips on perfectly.

and :yahoo:I can now touch:

Congrats. That looks like a nice seat and the important part is you can touch!

I love the Russell on my Strom. I would have loved to have one on my KLR when I owned one. Hopefully you can get back on the Russell for long trips.

Thanks BL

I conditioned and boxed Russell.
It is upstairs with the rest of our gear in hopes that I can put it back on the bike one of these days.

The seat looks good LT. Some people who take their seat off a lot cut a hole with a 1" hole saw so they can get to the seat bolts without taking the side covers off. I did it because I have a power point on the left side cover and it's a PITA to take it off.

It looks real nice for sure.

Harbor Freight is great for the air tools. One little trick for the cheap air tools is to oil them with a good vacuum pump oil. It really helps them a lot. If you sign up on line for the Harbor email fliers a couple of times a year you well get a chance to by there 200 dollar 3 Hp 21 gal upright for 140 dollars. This will got most people by very nicely. It runs out of steam when you try and run things like air sanders or Die grinders at high duty cycles. The cheap solution for that if needed is to watch when Harbor or Home Depot puts there little 8 gal compressors on sale for around 70 dollars. Team the 2 together and you get over 10 CFM at 90 PSI and this well even support the small bead blasters.

Hey LT

Glad you finally got a seat, we are still waiting for our order. It is a busy time of the year and well now you understand the frustration on how long it can take a supplier to get items to you.

I see you do not a have a front fork brace, this would be an investment I make,

made a huge difference on my bike. Maybe KK can chime in on his .02.

Cheers

waterlilly she has a fork brace. I thought it looked like there was one on it and went back to the thread when she bought it and it's on the list and one picture shows it pretty good. It looks loike a Super brace. I like my fork brace.

I can appreciate your position as a distributor waterlily.
I can not imagine how upset you must be to not have this years stock yet.
I guess I wouldn't mind so much if I was not promised a date that came and went without one word from them regarding the status of my seat.If I hadn't called I would still be waiting.

Yes you are correct KK I do have a fork brace.

Very nice seat! I think you and I are the same height and I chose a Corbin for my Ninja -- I had a hard time getting it on the bike at first but the seat itself was never uncomfortable for me.

It sucks that they didn't let you know about your order status!

I fall into the Corbin-lover camp. They modified my seat based on pictures and measurements that I sent them - I never found it too hard and the seam never bothered me. And I was lucky enough to get Asphalt on the sides :-)

Good luck with it, I bet you'll love it.

Thanks evolwife.

If it ever gets warm enough ( highs have been in the 40's) or dry enough (Snow hail and or rain on the other days) to ride I will let you know how comfortable is it.
Our weather has been more typical of March:shrug:
