Thought I'd share some pictures from my recent track day at Reno-Fernley Raceway in Fernley, Nevada.

This was my first time at this track. I was a little bit nervous about the day, I had heard that the track wasn't very smooth and since it was privately owned, no facilities on site either!!!

But...the track was fairly smooth, there were a few spots of bumpiness, but otherwise great track. There were no facilities, but porta-potties provided, which were very clean both days that I was out there. OH! And a lunch truck that came by....mom and daughter team who made some killer pulled pork sammiches!

Previous to RFR, I had only ridden Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, California. THill is a 15 turn course, pretty much all left handers and is very fast. RFR on the other hand is 3 miles of track with 23 turns..yes I said 23, a nice back and forth of left and right and at the end there is the "Bowl". The Bowl is a 45 degree banked left sweeper that is the most awesomest thing you could ever hope for on a track. With each lap I made all I wanted to do was get back to the Bowl.

Here's the track configuration:

With all those turns, RFR really makes you work! Come Monday morning every muscle in my body was sore. Right handers are my weak point, so RFR was a really great learning experience for me. Being forced repeatedly to make so many right turns, many very tight, helped me get comfortable and then get confident.

Ok enough babbling, here's a few pics, courtesy of 4TheRiders...
(don't let that beautiful cloudy sky fool you, it was freeeeeezing out there. Saturday we even had snow!!)

This is my boyfriend chasing me down.....he found the mohawk that someone had brought to the track. I think it works with the 80's wonder helmet :laughing

I think it is nice you both enjoy going to the track. We have another couple here that also do track days together.
Unforgiven & Maleficent, they live on the other side of the country in Florida.

Wow. What an awesome track. I'd definitely be broke if we lived on your side of our country. So, when is the next one? Did your tires wear pretty even? Great pics! Thanks. :wootrock:

Ya pretty even wear...but I am better turnign left than right and you can notice that a little on the rear tire.

So far I only have Thunderhill in August....I really didnt expect to get to the track at all this year so Im already super happy that I got to ride and at a new track.

Fun!! :wootrock: We're thinking Thunderhill for us next. Hearing great things about it.

Great pics! Did you trailer your bikes? When did the track day start -- early?

You said it was freezing..We rode to Willow Springs on Monday -- it was HOT, but not pavement-melting hot yet. No, we didn't ride Willow Springs (!), just to Tehacapi and around the track area. We shared the roads with lots of nice bikes.

Well Willow and Fernley is quite a distance apart....but since that weekend (5/22) the weather has warmed up considerably in the area.
We trucked our bikes up, had to make stops going through the pass to start the bikes and warm them up so they wouldnt freeze.

the track typically goes hot at 0900. Tech opens at 0730...Riders meeting somewheres after that....
Saturday was cold all day....and there was some drizzle and snow fluff. Sunday the skies opened up and gave us those awesome fluffy clouds...some sunshine but still chilly. Good amount of wind both days too. There was about 5 minutes of light sprinkling, but by late afternoon we got all the way up to 56 degrees.
Under my leathers I had on my under armour, tshirt, long Fox socks, glove liners and winter buff...that kept me pretty nice and toasty while riding around.
