I'm inching my way into the garage!
So, after seeing a recent thread about wheel tape, I attempted my own! I wanted a fluorescent green to match my helmet & gloves, and most importantly, a colour that would be noticed. Secondly, I decided to lose the silver sidecovers (you can kind of discern them in my profile picture) to expose the trellis on both sides-- what can I say, I'm a sucker for the naked European look. :redface1:
Well, mission accomplished! I used the Pro-grip Wheel Tape that is widely available on the internet; the applicator was absolute moot. I ended up taping my wheels completely by hand, which actually wasn't so bad! It turned out beautifully, and looks "slick" (according to the boyfriend :D:) when I'm riding with my matching gear. [which is always, of course!]
Secondly, the sidecovers came off with a bit of tweaking-- a few hex screws were taken off, and I had to figure out how to remove the whole plastic (including black) on the sides to get to a few snap-latches.
Overall, it was a lot of fun. I like getting to know my bike; it really helps you feel that much more comfortable! I had a lot of fun on it in the parking lot afterwards.
:ecstasy:
Removing a few of the frame stickers & fender eliminator are next! And maybe a new exhaust if I win the lottery in the next few months. :yahoo:
