The other night I parked my bike in front of a house and went into a store for a few minutes. When I returned to the bike, a guy who appeared to live at the house started talking to me. Predictably, he opened the conversation with "That's a lot of bike for you." What is up with men always saying that? Do the rest of you get that too?

It's even more strange because I'm now riding a Monster, which is a tiny bike physically. And mine had all the stock graphics removed by the previous owner, so there's no way to tell that it's the 900cc model. Even so, it's hardly "a lot of bike" in terms of horsepower either. Granted I'm short enough that I generally don't put both feet on the ground, but by no means do I look frail.

I wonder if they even have any inkling how insulting that statement is.

For some reason guys that know little to nothing about bikes think they can chat it up with women who ride. I have no idea why this is. I once had a guy tell me he had an 04 Gixxer 1100. Yeah they dont make those. What a dumbass.

To bad we live in a misogynistic world, but we do. :(
I get that all the time driving around on a 650 pound sport touring bike. But I love to watch their faces when I tell them I have been riding for 42 years and average around 30,000 + miles a year...
Unless they are a Dumbtard and don't get it, then I just leave them in the dust, riding off into the sunset of freedom from the Dumtards of life.

My whole take on it would be that the guy didn't think before he spoke (like most guys do) He may have meant it like a complement, but it came out like an insult.

Hmm, I ride an r1 and I don't get that at all. I get "wow, that's YOUR bike??" and that's about it. I get questions like, "Is it hard to ride a bike that big?" and what not but I seem to get some sort of "awe" because I'm riding a big dog bike (whatever).

I got more crap when I rode the sv. I remember I dropped the bike in a parking lot because my foot hit grease. Well, I didn't drop it... I slowly laid it down until the last inch and then I let go. Some guy ran over and he didn't even help pick it up... he just said, "Maybe you shouldn't be riding that"... omg. wtf. I didn't say a word to him... my friend helped me pick up the bike and I glared at the guy while his wife looked on with a completely embaressed look on her face...

Oh, there was the one time I had a guy friend on the back (he rides but was getting his tire changed, we were on a trip)... we were looking for the apparently ever alusive Jamba Juice ... asked this guy in front of Kragen's if he knew where one was... apparently the ugly srad gsxr in front was his (chicken strips 3 inches wide)... and he doesn't answer my question... he just starts laughing and says, "Shouldn't it be the other way around?" ... :mad ... I said, "Please, I could out ride you on any road anywhere in this county any day of the week with this guy on the back"... I was pretty peeved about that nice slice of misogyny for quite awhile.

I think that's about it... everything else that has happened to me was garage related...
