I think they should fight it, not because they don't deserve a ticket, but because the way the cops got their speed was dodgy and it's not fair to pay a fine for something that isn't provable. If I were in their situation, I'd plead guilty to speeding but would challenge the means in which the police officers got the speed. The result would be that it would get dropped or the fine would be lessened.
It didn't sound like they were trying to get out of taking responsibility so much as they were concerned about having to pay higher fines because the cops said they were going faster than they feel they were.
And he's right... we don't buy sportbikes to ride slow. ;) 55mph zones are painful at best. I dunno about you but in the area I live the freeway goes between 80-90mph... I get passed by cars all the time because I'm afraid of being pulled over. Cops profile sportbike riders... so I try to not be the fastest or near the fastest... but I have my moments when I gotta go faster... if I get pulled over... it happens... but if the cop doesn't catch my speed correctly... I'm definately going to fight it.
