I made the kimono myself. I don't think I'll do that again. I must have spent a solid day trying to figure out those stupid sleeves. The directions had arrows pointing everywhere........after a while, I swear, they were directing me to make a knot!

That's some JEN U Wine.....silk brocade right there. I couldn't believe how pissed off I looked in these photos...........crazy.:mad :lol

It turned out much better than anything I could have done. My zippers look like button holes and my button holes look like zippers.:lol
I'm glad that I don't have to make my own riding gear! Now that would be a disaster!!!

Ok it is October and time to start thinking about your costumes.

My neighbor & I love Halloween Our husbands think we are out of our minds.
Our routine is to treat or treat to all (5) houses on our short little dead end road. There are no children here so we bring some sort of creative alcoholic beverage to share with everyone.
The first thing we do is place a lit carved pumpkin at the mailbox...then give them our gift bags which consists of a silly toy, a candle some candy and sometimes homemade relish or pickles. and then hit them up for treats. They must give us treats or else :happy
Via our gators we then travel up to the Peterson Farm (about 1 mile) where the migrant workers childen look forward to our arrival. They are the receiver of all the treats we gathered from our road.
We stay for a glass of cider they laugh at our silly costumes we give them a ride in the gators and then we head back towards home.
Our night out would not be complete without a stop at the "Mayor of White Road's house. His name is Richie is a 67 year old man that has keep records of everything about White Road since he was a kid.He lives in the same house his great grandparents built.
Everyone is invited to his home Halloween night for a huge buffet. It is a banquet of fall harvest, He cooks everything from eggplant parm, pickled beets, baked butternut squash to homemade apple pies, herb breads to baked pumpkin seeds. If is comes from his garden he will make something special for Halloween.
We always have a great time and this year will be even better. We decided to choose a theme last year and have been gathering items for our gator displays and costumes
our theme is The wild west.

stay tuned.....

That is really cool that you do that for the kids.

I just spend the night at my mailbox with a shotgun so my mail box will still be there the next day.
This year I am taking it off!:tongue

Drunk bottle throwin pickup drivin rednecks!:mad

Just a note. I live waaaaaay out in the country. No kids, no neighbors and the only ones out driving on that night are looking for trouble. I really don't stand there but I wish I did sometimes...:lol

I'm going to be a chauffeur for Halloween. Literally. I'm taking the girls to all of their events so I won't have much time for anything other than driving around.

I'm still w/o a camera. :( But, I wasn't planning to do any dressing up myself anyway. The twins are doing some volunteering tonight passing out candy after a halloween concert downtown, and K has a school party, followed by a going away party for one of her best friends since preschool who is moving out of state. So I'll be busy and will get plenty of hand me down candy from the girls. :)

First thanks for the compliments on our driveway display.

Here are the gators ready to hit the trail.
The theme for this year was the Wild West
my neighbor ready to roll in her covered wagon
You can not see the bow I had in my hands oh well....Taken at one of our stops along the trail :lol
We had stuffed bread ( roasted red peppers & onions ) Eggplant Parm,
Richie made his famous Martha Washington Custard. You cut the top of the pumpkin, pull the seeds & stringy stuff out, then make up a rich custard & baked it right in the pumpkin. The pumpkin cooks & pulls away from the rind ( do pumpkins have a rind ? or is a skin  ) anyway it aways very good
He also made an apple pie, traditional Pumpkin pie, Zucchini raisin bread and popcorn balls, carmal and candied apples and pears .A low calorie well balance dinner:lol :lol :lol

Me ....Runswithbeer telling of the scalp I took from the neighbor who had no treats for us:lol :lol
and last a another new recuit (new neighbor) She understands she got a free ride this year but would have to deocorate her own tractor if she wants to join us next year.
We had a blast.
The day started out warm but I am very glad I had a turtle neck and down vest on under my costume by evening it got quiet cold.

Thanks everyone I am glad you have enjoyed our foolishness.
One of our neighbors on our street Mom now lives with them, She is 87 years young.
She said to us this year.

" You look wonderful. Never let yourselves grow old. If you have fun & laugh every day life is much easier. Thank you for making me laugh today. Will I see you again?"

She is a doll.

She has inspired us so we are adding a new Holiday of foolishness.
More to come.........
