How about you start off by telling us a little bit about yourself?

Good afternoon! Let's see - introduce myself....
I've been riding for 11 years. I started out on a Honda Shadow VLX in the fall of '95. In the summer of '96 I moved up to a V45 Magna. A couple of years later I bought a '99 Yamaha YZF600R and have been hooked on sportbikes ever since. In 2003 I had a Honda VFR, but decided I liked the smaller, sportier bikes and sold the VFR and bought a 2005 R6.
In May of 2007 my husband and I are going to take off on the bikes. We're hoping to be able to be on the road for a year. We're planning on touring the States and Canada.
Right now we live in Eastern Oregon where the winters are a little long. We're looking for someplace where we can ride longer than 6 months out of the year.
Amen Sister............riding all year round is where it's at.

Welcome to the site.
I read your blog and will have placed it in my favorites to follow you and your husband's adventures next year. The trip you are planning sounds much like the one my Husband did back in 1974 on his 1972 R/750 touring class BMW It was equipped with a Windjammer fairing and Kravan saddlebags, a map, camera, sleeping bag, small tent and a tool kit that would actually do road side repairs. Not like the crap tool kits they include on today's bikes. Although BMW probably stills includes a decent kit
He rode solo across the United States visiting many National & State parks & several providences in Canada.
He smiles even today when he thinks of the diverse beauty of our country's landscape and is grateful he was lucky enough and/or a good enough rider to handle the scary moments & close calls he experienced into on his trip.
We wish you good travels and
