Hi all-
I'm looking for recommendations for a rain suit. I'll use it not just for rain, but for an extra layer over my leathers when it's cold in the mountings. Here's what I'm after:

1) Small size for small me! So many seemed to be sized "unisex." I KNOW even the smallest of those will be waaaaay too big for me.
2) Bright color for visibility purposes.
3) I want it to pack down fairly small - so it can just live in my tank bag.

Any favorite rain suits out there? Thanks!

We both have tourmaster suits...........and I think they come in different sizes. Lucklily they make one big enough to fit over the "girls" up front for me. :lol They should make smaller sizes.

Well, I hope you're right about the smaller sizes - my "girls" don't need much in the way of accomodation! I'll check it out - in the meantime all suggestions are welcome!

I have gone through a set or two in the few weeks I have been riding.:lol
I have the opposite problem, I am tall. It was always hard to find good rain gear.
One day I was riding through a town out west someplace and needed something for camping and saw a REAL outdoor store. Long story short they had some GREAT rain gear!. I still use it and I have had them for about 8 years now.
The next thing you want to know is the brand.....hmmmmm....no tag anymore!
They are the type you would use on a expedition. As in not cheap but they have served me well. And I remember that they had many different sizes.

Just a thought. Good Luck!

Have you found anything that will work for you yet?

No, not yet, but honestly, I have done that much more research. I got caught up in buying locking luggage for my bike instead! I do love the looks of the tourmaster one that was recommended above, but it is pricey... I may hold out for it though. It's great that the jacket is actually tailored for women rather than being a downsized men's model!

Op, I've found having something with a hood that rolls into the collar would be really nice (mine doesn't have one - think really, really wet hair trying to get to a restaurant in a downpour!). Check webbikeworld.com and motorcyclegearreview.com for reviews and ideas.

I'm small too (including "the girls") and am not crazy about my unisex rain coat/pants, so you're on the right track. Also, I've found most motorcycle rain gear is lined which makes them less "packable". I have great, packable rain gear for work cause I work in the woods on the Oregon coast, but don't think it's good for riding. The hardest thing to find on a normal rain coat would be elastic on the waist so the jacket doesn't balloon out while riding, and a hood that detachs or rolls into the collar. But if I could find that, it would be great cause it's cheaper and packs better cause there's no lining.

I've heard of some people using Frogtogs, but when I saw them I wasn't impressed (especially for riding, plus they seem overpriced).

Choices...choices.... Good luck in your decision.

Holly

I'm looking for something new for myself. Does the tourmaster suit pack down small?

I had Frog Togs. On the good side they pack tiny, are definitely waterproof, have the kind of hood in the colar that Luna C was talking about, and fit my 5'3" body. The downside is that they wear out fast, only come in two colors, invisible to cars black, or Pillsbury Doughboy white, and although they claim to be washable, my white ones were gray after the first good ride in rain.

I actually just bought my rainsuit from Wal Mart one day on my way to Cinci, OH (unexpected road trip and rain to follow). It has been a staple in my gear collection for a couple of years and has worked well for me. I have the pants and the jacket and always stayed dry. Not expensive, but it worked and still does. :)

Actually, it doesn't pack down quite as small as i'd like, but I think it would be better if I packed it flat rather than rolled up. Each half packs down to, oh, I dunno, maybe a roll 8 inches long and 5 inches wide...
