View Full Version : Oh, the embarrassment

So, I guess when you're distracted by other's crappy driving, your own suffers.

I tossed the bike yesterday evening...After watching two vans fight to turn left, at the same time and the van behind them decided to punch the gas and barrel through no matter who or what was in front of him....

So I decided to excelerate while pulling into the far left lane (I was turning right, the on-coming van was in the right lane), and am still a little nervous taking turns sharply. Also, the sight of a van barreling towards me made me panic, and base nature kicked in. Story ends in me skidding with the bike accross the road, jumping up, shutting off the engine, and then trying to lift the bike. Luckily someone was kind enough to stop behind me and help lift the bike up, and it started and I limped it to the next clear parking lot and took a minute to chill and adjust the bike.

Ninja seems okay, might now have a coolant leak or crack in the overflow containter, scratched up a bit more, but runs perfect.
I've got some road rash on my right shoulder, arms are in pain, but otherwise am okay, (except my bad-ass-super-cool-ego, heh ).

I will be taking some time to practice sharp turns and try to become more confident in regards to quick turns.

Ouch, sorry to hear about your crash. Hope that leak/crack isn't too bad or spendy to fix.

I also hope you were wearing gear...?!!

Ouch. Sorry to hear about your drop, but glad you and your bike came out without serious damage. It is just one more reminder that we never know when we will go down. All the Gear All the Time!

Well....just the helmet. Broke my thumb, so I'm skipping out on gloves and decided to skip the jacket for the day. Will not skip it again in future, my shoulder is regretting it now. :(

Thank you for sharing your experience. It solidifies the reasoning for the ALL THE GEAR ALL THE TIME culture here on TWF.

Glad you did not end up in worse shape and that you are making a commitment to ALWAYS wear your protective gear in the future.

:hug2: Hope you and your bike get fixed up real quick. At least you know what you did and what you need to work on so it won't happen again.

Sooooo glad you're ok, Lara. Here's some TWF healing :magic: to help your shoulder and arms.

Yeah, dueling mini-vans would've scared the life outta me, too. I'm still recovering from my down last month. I would've been hurt way worse had I not been ATTGATT.

IMAO...battling minivans is QUITE a scary sight...especially with two middle-aged men driving them.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes and encouragement! :wootrock:

Was riding yesterday and no leakage, no over-heating, nothing where the bike was parked...So I guess I just sloshed out some coolant or something?

Hey I'm a middle aged man but I don't drive a mini van. :D:
Glad you weren't hurt any worse and glad the bike isn't leaking.
