View Full Version : Icon Standard Pant or other riding jeans
Hello folks! Does anyone have the Icon Standard Pants (their denim pants)? The only reviews I've been able to find on them says that they are a poor fit and uncomfortable.
I'm trying to find a pair of stylish looking jeans that will offer a bit more protection than my Levi's but not be as bulky and ugly as a lot of the armored riding pants out there.

It seems that we Lady's are stuck with what is out there for now. :(
But the big name gear dealers are starting to take notice and in the 42 years that I have been riding. We have gone from tank tops and chaps to some real gear that even has nice styling along with protection. Most of this change has started in the last 6 to 7 years. (about dang time!)
I have some Dragon Jeans that are slim fitting. I have never tried Icon stuff. Nothing fits me right. But they do have a line of chic stuff now!
I don't like to ride in loose fitting stuff as they tend to make folds that can irritate after a spell when riding long distances like I do. I wear Under Armor under my DJ's to help with chaffing. They work too! My problem is with inseam, I am 36" and that is hard to find. And even with my Dragons on I still almost always have a pair of HT overpants on too. (Inky will tell you I'm a gear whore... )
Hey boy's and girls do you know of anything out there that will work for Veda?

I bought a pair of Cortech denim pants last year. My guess is they are probably not as good as the brand "draggin jeans" but I wanted to try a denim and I picked these up for $67.50
They are 13.5 oz Denim with Perforated leather panels sewn in from the waist band to below the crotch and from the thigh to below the knee. I would have preferred them to have continued the leather to include wrap around the hip, but it stops at the side seam. They also have removable armor in the knee area.
I can not vouch for them in a crash. I have not (thankfully) slid down the highway in them. They are sized by waist and inseam & are a bit wide in the leg, but that leaves room for under armor if you choose to wear it.
Hope this helps

I have the Icon Standard Pant. Since I am tall and slender, I chose them since they came with 34 inseam. I think they are comfortable. They fit me well and have no complaints. My husband is thinking about buying a pair for himself to wear. :happy
Thanks for the info. It's good to hear someone likes them before you invest the money :)

I've tried them, to no avail. If you have ANY sort of hips or rear end, the Icon jeans are NOT for you, no matter how slim the rest of your build is. There's just NO room for a hiney! :no I know a girl who's normally between a size 3 and a 5, who had to go up to a size 9 just to get them ON, and they still didn't fit right in the rear end.
I've heard great things about the Cortech jeans, and Draggin (the Australian company, not the one here in the U.S. -- they ARE separate) now offers a "low rise" ladies' riding jean. They're not a true low rise like fashion/casualwear jeans are, but they are lower than other riding jeans. I've heard they run a LITTLE small, but not extremely small, and are very comfy.

I have heard about them too. All good stuff too. But can we get them in the US? Or would shipping bring them up in price too much?
Just wondering...

Yes, we can get them in the U.S. (a girl on another board, who lives in Texas, got them recently... and another girl in NY)
I think this is the style they bought:

(however, according to their site, the offices are closed till January 8th)

Hi there!
I've been riding with green camouflage pants each time I go out. I find it very comfortable and flexible to use when riding. It also keeps the bottom warm.

Are you referring to the Army camouflage pants or Riding pants that are colored like camouflage? Just wondering. I'm like that!:happy

I'm referring to the Army pants. It would be nice if the riding pants came in camouflage style.
I think I've seen camo riding pants on Icon's site - but I'm sure they were only in men's sizes.

For those looking for camo riding pants, just beware of the Icons.
I bought some for my BF for his Bday last year, and they were horrific (so bad, we returned them). They're VERY low rise -- not a feature you really want in a riding pant (think sliding on pavement... low pants will come off easily), extremely long, and just ill fitting all around. I was speaking to the manager at our local Cycle Gear, and he said he's had a TON of reports about that... very inconsistent sizing, and bad fitment.
(those Draggin's are on his wishlist for next year  So if anyone gets them, post up on how they fit!)
