On Dakar's brilliant suggestion, here's a link to the information about the Arai helmet "recall" where they'll fix the lower trim strip if it comes loose.

It's posted in the General Discussion, too.

Wow... seems like Arai is having all sorts of problems lately. The Arai Profile helmet failed to pass DOT testing in '06 :no

I'm kind of surprised since their helmets are so pricey.

I tried to upload the DOT results, but I guess the file is too large. If anyone is interested in reading the DOT report, you can download it here: http://media3.filewind.com/g.php?filepath=2219

I remember one time reading all the way through the 2005 report.:boring:
I was doing a report on the safety of helmets and DOT and Snell ratings and how that all works. Blah blah blah...

Anyway what I want to interject here is that a company can get a fine helmet to fail just because the third party that made the helmet didn't put the right sticker on. Or it wasn't put on in the right place. Then they have to go back and change everything but the fail mark is left in the recored...

Just something to think about. But then again some fail because the need too!

Jm2c...

I hear ya... but the Arai Profile helmet failed the IMPACT portion of the test... kind-of the most important aspect

"Dwell time failure of 2.02 msec. at 200g during the low temperature helmet test, Drop No. 2 onto the flat anvil at the right side location."

OK it is time for me to get a new computer!:mad
I can't get the link for the site to work. Hell I can't get most stuff to load lately!
That said I didn't mean to make it sound like Arai's problems were stickers. But that some of the pass/fails were for as little as a sticker placement.

Sorry if I confused anyone with my statment...
