Elena Myers Update:
http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2007/Mar/070301u.htm
Kawasaki Sponsors Teen Racer
by staff baas
Thursday, March 01, 2007
This just in from Kawasaki:
KAWASAKI TEAM GREEN SPONSORS TEEN
ROADRACING PHENOMENON ELENA MYERS
The Sky is the Limit for this Model Student
Most 13-year-old girls spend their non-school hours talking about clothes, last weekend, and yes, boys. And while most are committed to educational pursuits, it's rare to find someone?boy or girl?who is disappointed with a 3.85 GPA, especially since the less-than-perfect average is the result of a "B" in PE. Now, combine this academic excellence with the ability to tilt a motorcycle into a 120mph race track corner, and the resulting profile is that of Elena Myers, a Discovery Bay, Calif. teen who is making noise on the amateur roadracing circuit.
The Kawasaki Team Green student-racer has a new pair of Kawasaki Ninja 650R sportbikes tucked into her garage, but they don't spend much time there. Elena is a regular competitor -and past winner- in the WERA West roadracing series, where she'll be racing the Formula Two and Lightweight Superbike classes. She'll also be racing her Ninja 650Rs in AFM 650 Twins and Formula Four competition during the 2007 season. When she's not racing, Elena enjoys listening to music, riding her Supermoto bike and hanging out with friends.

Keith Code and the California Superbike School to Coach Roadracing Phenomenon Elena Myers:
February 18, 2007 For Immediate Release
At 8 she rode her first ever 50cc minibike. At 10 she was taking
checkered flags racing pocket bikes, flat track and supermotard. And in 2004 at a seasoned 11 years old Elena Myers from Northern California, blasted stereotypes and the rest of the competition to take 3 championship titles aboard her RM 85, one endurance race win and become the youngest female road racer in American history to ever win an 80cc Expert title!
This year the young racing phenomenon will receive expert tutelage from world-renowned motorcycle coach Keith Code and his California Superbike School.
"So far I have learned a ton," said Elena after her first
communications with Code. "He has taught me a lot of strategies and concepts that I never really thought about before and he's got me to think about what I really am doing on and off the bike. It's helped my understanding tremendously. I never had a true understanding of what I was doing with the throttle and how it affects where the bike goes and how the bike behaves.
Elena will work through the entire Twist of the Wrist II book,
authored by Code and will then attend several of the California
Superbike Schools, including the specialized CODE R.A.C.E school.
There she will follow the same curriculum as the rest of the students and work through the carefully designed step-by-step coaching program.
"I think it will be a great experience!" said Elena about
participating in the Superbike School courses. "Keith has taught me so much over these past few weeks via email and him being there will help even more. It's going to be three consecutive schools so I know I'm going to learn a ton!
"When John Ulrich asked me if I wanted to train Elena I immediately said yes," said Keith Code. "John is one of this country's best talent scouts, I trust his judgment so it was an easy decision to make. Working with Elena over e-mail has been just as rewarding as sitting down with her, I'm not talking with a 13 year old young lady, I'm talking with a rider who has enthusiasm and is smart. Right now we are working out a base line of communication between us and looking at
the technical skills she'll need to win," explains Code.
For 2007 Elena will race a Kawasaki Ninja 650 for Kawasaki Team Green and an RS125 for RoadRacing World.com Kids: Don't Smoke! Racing Team in the WERA West, USGPRU and AMA series.
"I also want to thank John Ulrich from Roadracing World and all my
current sponsors." Said Elena. "John has been the main person to
really help get my program going. I can't really say enough about what he's done for me. I'm really lucky that's for sure! My long term goals are to someday be MotoGP World Champion!"
It seems that she is well on her way!
For more information visit Elena at www.elenamyers.com (http://www.elenamyers.com/) and the
Superbike School website at www.superbikeschool.com (http://www.superbikeschool.com/) or call the office directly at 1 800 530 3350

Here is another lady rider, her name is Lois Pryce. She quit her job with the BBC and shipped her Yamaha XT 225 Serqw to Anchorage Alaska and rode it to Ushaia Argentina the southern most tip of South America.
She wrote a book of her adventure. It's titled "Lois On The Loose". I'm about half way through it, it"s a good read.

Some friends just got back from Mid-Ohio (http://www.amadirectlink.com/vmd/2007/home.asp and she was there. She signed her book for them. They said she was really nice.
The also have a Ural sidecar rig but said they would never try a 10,000 mile ride with it. Duh!
Luna Tique
08-02-2007, 10:29 AM
Dakar I can not believe you have a Ural rig
I was looking at one recently but I am not willing to sacrifice, comfort reliability and I do not turn wrenches. Hell I don't even change my own oil I have the dealer do that. Here are the pictures of it. It was a beauty.

That's a nice bike LT. I might have to learn a little about wreching if I had a chance at a bike like that! :)
KCDakar
08-02-2007, 11:47 AM
Mine is a Dnepr. An M-16 to be exact. (2 wheel drive) It is close to the same bike but made at a different plant.
It doesn't matter if it is a Ural or a Dnepr you will be pushing it unless you are a wrench.
The bikes were made to run ALL day long loaded to the gills with military stuff at about 37MPH on roads that we in the USA would call trails. The problem here in the US is we think we can take them and run the sh!t out of them on hard roads as fast as the USA speed limit. It aint meant to be!
My pics of the bike are stuck on my old confuzer right now. I will try to get some soon and post them up for you.

No.... Not yet. It sits next to my chair in the family room.
When all my "outside batten down the hatches" chores are done for the season I will start a fire & curl up to read her adventure. I am looking forward to it, I am just too exhausted to do much of anything by the end of the day lately. Just not enough hours in my days

Our friend's nephew " Michael Lainheart" now runs in the pro 70cc & the 85cc class.
This past Autumn he did his first road race track days . "It took me some time to get used to leaning the bike over" was Michael's comment. Once he did I was told " he smoked the pack by the end of the weekend." by his very proud uncle.
He has a lot of natural talent and I think is 10
It is great to have a favorite rider to watch It is even better for me to watch him grow up and developing his skills.
