It looks a lot like the Fairbanks ice festival that runs through the end of March.

Our forcast is for snow tonight, tomorrow and Thursday. Snow now is pretty typical. Usually we have our breakup around the middle of April, snow in Anchorage is usually gone by the beginning of May. It sometimes snows in May, but nothing that accumulates.

I have seen ride reports on ADVRider with snow on the side of the roads over the heads of the riders...Please tell me I won't be in that kinda snow to get to your house in June.

Actually our horrible Alaska weather is mostly just talk. :tongue Right now the piled snow along my driveway is only about 2 feet high. Places like Valdez, and elevation will have more snow and will have it longer.

The two attched photos were taken on a camping trip to Hatcher's Pass my girls and I took last Memorial day. I think the photos were May 27, assuming my camera date is correct.

And I suppose the State Bird (the mosquito) is mostly just talk too? :tongue

Nice pics...

Sounds like you will be picking a lot of wings and little corpses off your leathers.

We run a mosquito magnet in our backyard and enjoy hanging out with a campfire almost every night all summer long. The biggest problem I have with mosquitos is covering my helmet when I ride on cool days and go outside town.

If you are planning to go to Fairbanks, don't camp in the woods. :no The University has (or used to have anyway, it's been a few years...) a pretty campground behind the upper campus. There are a few spots cleared enough that you won't get eaten alive, but during college when I lived in Fairbanks I wouldn't go anywhere near the woods in summer. I'll risk the bears around here over the moquitos there any day! :tongue

They really like you, huh? Hmmmm..... Maybe we should take you on our next camping trip and have you sit on the OTHER side of the camp site... :happy :happy

Just kidding. There's nothing to worry about as long as you never leaved the paved streets of Anchorage!

We are planning on going to Fairbanks on Sunday to see the ice sculptures. Yes, I'll take pics! It's the girl's spring break and they wanted to go somewhere exotic. We figured what could be more exotic than Fairbanks in March!

I've gone through about half the pictures, then the borrowed battery died again. :slaphead: One more charge should get me through the pictures and uploaded to smugmug. From there it will go more quickly.
