So I was reading Yahoo News and this article caught my eye: http://news.yahoo.com/s/bw/20070426/bs_bw/apr2007db20070426139334

It states that the price of gas wouldn't exceed $4.00. I found this interesting because when I passed a gas station the other day, the price of Premium Octane was $4.13 per gallon

So what's the price for a gallon of gas where you're at?.... and to further the discussion, is there a certain gas pricepoint that would cause you to stop riding for pleasure? If gas was $5, $6, or even $9.00 per gallon, would you stop riding as much?

I just read that also. In the Kansas City area it's $2.65 on the MO. side and $2.72 on the KS side for Regular. Kansas has higher gas taxes and better roads. I don't know what price would make me stop riding for pleasure. It would probably depend on how bad I needed to escape life.

Gas around here ranges from $2.89 to $3.03 for regular. At least those are signs I saw today. They may have gone up as I drove by.

In answer to your question: "Would I stop riding for pleasure at some point due to the gas prices. The answer is NO. I would just build more cabinets.. Sell more jobs. Work longer days. It is my needed therapy for a few months out of the year.

If gas went up to $9 I think consumers would kick enough politician butt for there to actually be viable alternatives.

It's round about $3.30-$3.50 for regular gas (which I use) round here, and pushing $4 for the high end stuff.

I only have a bike licence, so it is kind of moot--I either ride the bike, walk, or catch the bus. ;-)

Well, it was a hypothetical question... not based on reality, or even what I think could become reality. But, if you're hung up on $9, then you could use another price... like $5.00 :tongue

But, my question was about riding strictly for pleasure... not necessity... so the fact that you only have a bike license is kind of moot.

Funny, the prices went down here... almost 15 cents in one day. Crazy how it fluctuates so much day by day. I declare shenanigans!

I will always ride. That said, if I had to pay $9 I would choose more carefuly my routes so I could get in the most for my buck!

On the way back from HPT last night gas was $2.87 for reg.

Actually, that's why I became a biker...........I have a 35 gallon tank in the Dodge. When gas prices get higher and higher, it tends to sit more and more in the drive way. The Triumph gets close to 45 mpg, and has saddle bags, so even if I need to get some groceries, it's all good. Luckily the weather is usually pretty good here, so that can be possible. The less I support the gas companies, the better!
