Ohhhhhh... I've gone and done it. I've spent entirely too much moolah on my lovely motorcycle.

1) Stainless Steel Brake Lines (semi-justifiable since it could be categorized as a safety upgrade  )
2) Fancy Schmancy NGK Iridium Spark Plugs (adds a little spunk, and supposedly improves fuel efficiency... well, at least that's what I keep telling myself :lol , again... justified :bs )
3) Pazzo Racing Levers (I call this "functional bling" since they're adjustable, they do make the levers much easier to reach with my small girly hands :tongue)
4) THE MOTHER OF ALL FARKLES: Garmin Zumo550 GPS system :happy (in my best Kool-Aid Man voice: oooooooohhhhh YEAH!!!) Sweet mercy is this thing cool! :bow

Everything should be installed this weekend, soooo pics to follow. WOOT!!! :riding:

Stay tuned for next week when: baby gets a new pair of shoes!!! ....sooooo unimpressed with the stock tires, but I was patient and made sure I rode on them until they were down to the wear warning mark.

Let me know what you like about the Zuma. My 2720 is going back to the dealer and my up grade is going to be the Zuma. Cool!:happy

Well, I'm please with the Zumo, but I've only been able to play with it and haven't actually road tested it yet (hopefully this weekend). I didn't want to hard wire it to the bike, so I'm waiting on some accessories from Powerlett that will allow me to plug it in via a cigarette lighter adapter that will be plugged into the Battery Tender pigtail thing I already have connected to the battery. That should arrive this week sometime (keeping fingers crossed).

The Garmin mapping software "MapSource" is a bit underwhelming and doesn't come with great instructions... but it has been alright because the Zumo has a great online forum community that has been very helpful in answering my questions. Hard for me to say much about the mapping software though since I don't have anything to compare it to except an old copy of Microsoft Streets & Trips that I've been using (from 2000). I'm still learning new features every day though, so it's been fun. I've pretty much plotted out my entire Yellowstone trip in MapSource.

One cool feature is the ability to download Routes into Google Earth and do "fly overs" of the route. So if there was a road that I wanted to check out... or see if I could tell which of two differen roads had better scenery, all I had to do was plop the route into Google Earth and away I went. I don't know if this is a feature exclusive to the Zumo though.... I'm a GPS NOOB.

I know enough to get lost!:happy

Let us know how it works out for you.
All I have to do to get my new one is drop off my old one and then wait for the new on to get all the paper trail stuff done and come to me in the mail.

But that takes time. Time I will be with out...

I'll do it later...

Mods?!?! Meh... we don't need no stinkin' mods.

This forum reminds me of those old infomercials with that Ron Popeil (sp?) guy... where the catch phrase was "Set it and forget it!"

I think they set up this forum and then promptly forgot all about it.

Thanks for the link. It was interesting that some people who were bashing the Zumo for things it couldn't do.... but it was things that it DOES do. Just like the saying: everyone's a comedian... in the internet forum world, that saying translates to: eveyone's an "expert" :no aaaahhh, if only I had a dime for every bit of mis-information floating around on the interweb....

I have a friend that races CCS and works for Garmin. I hear that Garmin is working on a Mac fix but if you own a new Mac you can run both Mac software and Microsoft at the same time so in short if I get a Mac my software will work running the Zuma GPS software.

Oh-ho.... now THIS is interesting information that I'm sure you'll regret sharing with me :lol Guess who's my new go to person for Garmin/GPS questions?

So being a complete Mac idiot, what constitutes a "new" Mac?

So being a complete Mac idiot, what constitutes a "new" Mac?

I was told that the new this year Mac's support both mac OS and Microsoft OS running on the Mac at the same time. Two windows and you can drag and drop info from MS to Mac. Please understand that I have no idea what I am saying I am only repeating what I have been told. I am a noob when it comes to confuzers...but you already knew that.
Mike said that the Mac patch will be coming but will be down the road. Sad it is taking so long.

Now I have to go and find out how much damage my bike will cost to see how long it will be before I can get a new confuzer. I HATE going to the library!:mad

PopCap is a company that makes little casual games for the PC (usually of the puzzle variety).... some on XBox Live as well.
