Perhaps it's just me, or this crazy city I live in... but has anyone else had someone throw something at them while riding? I was on my way to school one day and some kids threw a SuperSlurpy full of soda (Mountain Dew I think) out the bus window at me. It hit my throttle hand, the lid popped off, and soda exploded all over me and my bike :cryin:

Meanwhile, they were all laughing hysterically... little bastards :mad

I could hear the sizzle, and smell the burning of the mountain dew on my engine. It was super fun to clean the mountain dew off of everything...

ahhh... good times...

Nice! I've been rather lucky. The first season I owned my bike I hit a pothole and folded my wheels. I've hit a dog before heh

Been lucky and havn't had anything thrown at me.

Weirdest one I had was riding behind a guy in a convertible who was eating sunflower seeds and chucking the shells out the window. It took me a little while to figure out what was pelting me. :lol

I remember last year a couple of people complaining that some kids were throwing rocks off a bridge on to cars and bikes. One of my friends had a nice ding left in his helmet from one. Luckily those little brats could run fast cause when he turned around they were gone.

I had an angry little old man try to throw a coffee out his half-open car window at me (he was pissed I had my highbeams on).
Anyway, he missed and got the inside of his car.

Also lanesplitting, I've been spit on and had ciggarette butts thrown at me.

I've experienced the unintentional droppings from cars, cigerettes and what not. I had someone almost hit me with a bunch of soda ... which wasn't intentional either but I scared the crap out of them saying "HEY!!" real loud as I went by (they were stuck in traffic).

I was lane splitting once and these kids kept poking a stick out the back window of the van they were riding in, in hopes of hitting me when I went by, only I saw them so I kept making like I was going to go. Their parents finally figured out what was going on and looked absolutely sick with embaressment as I rode by.

The ones I hate is when people try and throw their cars at me. That's annoying.

Yeah, me too. I had a friend hold me on my bike when we reached a red light after this guy in his truck tried to hit me when I passed him in a legal zone for passing on the backroads. He proceeded to scream at us that we were a menace to society. I've experienced some other stuff but I've had several friends lowside because of cars intentionally pulling in front of them after faking to get out of their way on backroads. Not kewl.

Some people don't realize the water flies back like that, so unless I see them looking at me when they do it, I just zoom around them. If they were looking at me when they did it, I zoom around them with my finger flag waving.

Nobody's thrown anything at me directly, unless you count dogs who throw themselves at bikers on a regular basis. ;-) OTOH, last year as I was minding my own business on the interstate the trailer in front of me lost a wheel--which bounced madly around the freeway for a while. I braked until I knew its trajectory then zoomed out of the way. That was certainly "fun".

I nearly ran a squirrel over last week. It was carrying a pine cone easily 50% of its size. Daft thing could hardly move. Does that count?

Hey White Raven
Thanks for the links. Glad to see you post up again. Any new adventures for this season planned?
Don't know if this qualifies or not but the farmer up the road does not cover his dump truck when he is hauling silage One day I got stuck behind him and ended up coated with the stuff. Because of it high moisture content it really sticks and was a major pain to remove from my gear & bike.
I also had a rock come loose from one of his tractor tires last summer and shot past me like a cannon ball. If you are all wondering why I don't just pass him ( I do when I can) but there are lots of blind corners so sometimes I just get stuck behind him.

WhiteRaven the squirrel you had does in fact count. When a rodent (any kind) jumps out in front of you around here it is referred to as an SSD.
Stupid Squirrel Decision...:lol
We call Bamby a rodent too.
I have also been known to apply the title to cages on occasion.

LT,
I think sticky silage counts. Just don't run over a pile of it. (don't ask me how I know this, I still have the scars from childhood. :( ) PS kerosene removes it easy and wont harm your bike. Just wash it off with soap & water good.

Sileage! Ewwwwwww! *wrinkles nose*

Hm, yes, I suppose you could say we have adventures coming up. ;-) Our mobile home park is being sold, so we all have to move. Since our home is too old to move, we are being bought out and thus becoming homeless. We have no current ties, so we are being very mature and will buy a cheap RV and tour with cats and bikes for some unspecified amount of time.

*grin*

How about the rider in front of you eating Starbursts then throws the wrappers in the wind, which carries it straight back to the faceshield of your helmet! NOT COOL!:( :mad

Man that right there is just LAME! What a n00b to be doing that.

I had a car pass me and throw a coke can (full & open) at me. It landed between me and my tank. I was sooooo pissed. Off I went after them. They went all over town throwing stuff out the window and yelling at me until they figured out I was not going to give up so they pulled into the police station.
OMG that was SOOO funny to watch them both run to the door and then 30 seconds later the cops all come running out to see what was going on. You would have thought that that they were thinking the Hell's Angels were waiting for them!
When they saw it was me (They knew me) and I told them what happened and handed them the evidence they arrested them for aggravated assault and battery. The look on the a$$hats faces was priceless!!
I think that can cost them $500 plus court costs.
Oh and they had the car towed because it was blocking the door.

It can be good to know the cops in your town...

Dakar, now that is a helluva good ending to that story! They should have been arrested and fined, what kind of idiot throws something at a person on a bike! BUTTMUNCHES!!!! Good for you though, I'm sure next time they will think twice about doing something like that.

KCDakar
05-29-2007, 08:07 PM
They did get arrested that is how the car was left and towed from the front door.
I forgot to tell you they were floored when they saw I was a "Girl" too. But it is kinda dumb when you think about it. What the hell were they thinking throwing a coke can at a black leather clad Harley rider???

Not very far up on my list of dumb things to do with my life!:lol

Well I get to add a new odd random projectile to my history.
Today the wind was gusting pretty good. As I was accelerating out of a corner into the straight away a "For Sale by Owner" plastic sign was ripped from the telephone pole it was attached to & flew right into me. I would have been alarmed but I saw it coming and there wasn't a darn thing I could do but duck. I did but it still hit me. Believe it or not it put a scratch in my helmet.:mad
