And, wow!, your clock is actually working. None of us have gotten ours set properly (there were 4 DRZ folks at one point sitting around the campfire, laughing that we needed a bunch of PhDs to figure it out); I settled for a cheapie watch attached to my tank bag.
it's not actually working correctly - it's still on summer-time. it's an hour fast.

believe it or not, I read the manual.

I rode to work this morning! 50+ degrees today... unheard of for January in Chicago.

So, before I scooted off to work, I snapped this odometer pic. The miles for last year would've been higher, had it not been for that silly broken hand.

Question: Is this a household total mileage contest or an individuals total mileage contest? The rule set makes it sound like you post up everything you own whether you are the one riding it or not.

It will help us to understand Lilolita's submission of her Boyfriend's bike in post 3.

Just to clarify, this is a TWF members only contest. I think it will help things along if Photo submissions of start/end mileage were made by the actual member. In the future, should we put together a prize package from a sponsor then it is only fair to have it this way.

Nut, it does make it tougher if the household has multiple riders and multiple bikes and they share some of them. I would rather see that this is kept at an individual contest with each person only counting the bikes they ride the most. If you occasionally ride an SO's bike, but aren't the one putting the majority of the miles on it, it might be best and more fair not to count it towards your total.

We have the SV that we kind of share, but for one it doesn't accumulate enough miles to make much difference and we both ride it, so I didn't even count it.

Go ahead and post up pics of your odometers with a GPS or Cell phone showing the date and lets get 2012 rolling.

Edit by Sweptwingnut: After further discussion this contest has evolved according to the following.
  • We are going to try and get at least some kind of small prize for this years 2012 contest. It may not be much this year but it will be something.
  • This is an individual contest open to TWF members only. This post will be updated with participant information as the year progresses.
  • Only bikes ridden exclusively by you may be considered.
  • Start/end Odometer mileage PHOTO REQUIRED. Odometer must be of the NON-resetable type. (e.g. not your trip-ometer) Photo must include the Date and Time (from a cellphone, notepad, calendar, etc) in the photo of the bike or bikes you are entering into the contest.
  • Excel spreadsheets or other written mileage record does NOT count toward entry. EMPHASIS: No Odometer mileage PHOTO containing Date/Time the photo was taken of the bike being entered into the contest = No participation.
  • TWF staff reserves the right to enforce the rules. If it comes to our attention that someone has broken the rules or falsified information, that person will be disqualified from the current contest. We reserve the right to prevent offenders from participating in future contests of any kind on TWF.
  • TWF Mods/Admins may participate but are not eligible for prizes/awards.

Post 1 updated with current information.

Thanks Nut.

BTW, those having trouble getting clear pics of your odometer. Most camera's have a "macro" setting that shows a picture of a flower. This allows the camera to focus much closer and most times turns the flash off too.

Yikes! Didn't mean to cause any controversy. If I could edit my original post, I'd only list my bikes.

Not a problem lilolita. We are still figuring out the rules, so your post actually was a needed impetus to get that area clarified.

I edited your post for you. Also, if you get your other bikes running so you are riding them during the summer, just take a beginning photo of the odometer then and get it posted. Same goes for anyone who gets a bike running, or gets a new bike. Joining late is fine, as long as you have a dated beginning mileage photo when you start counting it.
